Transit comes to life through the lens of talented photographer, Pierre Toussaint. We recently took five with co-founder and model, Nadia Bartel, to discuss all things travel.
Sit down with Nadia:
Tell us your go-to airport look?
I still like wearing my polished look at the airport. I reach for denim alot whilst travelling but I also love my Knox Pants, as they have an elastic waistband, and are a beautiful lightweight fabrication - perfect for travelling and so comfortable. I then pair my white tee and oversized bomber, or also love my crewneck sweater thrown over my shoulders. For shoes, I wear my black loafers or ASICS sneakers.
Can you share with us, your travel destination, and why?
I love travelling to Italy. I feel so much warmth when I go back there, and it brings back all the feelings of my upbringing and family. I feel there are so many places still to see. I have been to Tuscany, Sardinia and the Amalfi Coast quite a lot, which I love. I am hopefully heading back to Italy next year and will visit places I haven't before, such as Taormina in Sicily. We also still have family living there, so it would be so nice to visit them.
Dream travel destination?
I have never been to London, so I would love to travel there as I feel I would connect with its culture and vibe. Particularly all the retail stores, they are so grand and detailed over there, so it would be amazing for inspiration.
What is always in your carry-on luggage?
I use my big tote with lots of compartments, so I can keep everything organised. My notebook is a must, as I like to jot ideas down, as well as gratitude journaling whilst travelling. Also, my supplement box as I take alot of vitamins and want them with me whilst on holidays. Airpods, hand sanitser, travel chargers, my BioDance collagen face mask which is great for longer flights. I also like to take electrolytes whilst flying to stay hydrated, and a magnesium mix.
Any tips for beating jet-lag?
Blue-light glasses have been a game changer for me when travelling. They are essential for beating jet-lag as you are exposed to a lot of blue lights whilst flying, through watching the screens and also the fluorescent lights on the plane and in airports. I also never drink alcohol when flying, as I try to stay as hydrated as possible with electrolytes and not eat too much. I also try to adjust to the timezone of the destination I am travelling to, whilst flying - whether that means staying awake or falling asleep on their schedule, which really helps.
When I arrive at the destination (which is usually of a morning), I try to get a workout in, which can be difficult with kids but anything to move our body together and not napping, really helps.
